Words from the Elf
Starting the second week of school and I’ve already slowed way down on my personal reading. I’m still going to try and do at least one review a week and I may start a weekly post on the adventures of an aspiring writer if anyone would be interested in that. The Good
The Monkey. I loved the monkey in this book. He’s always giving people the finger, pouting when scolded and loves the monkeys in Madagascar. I also liked how some of the characters believed so strongly in the supernatural but then when something happens they occasionally try to rationalize it away. I though one of the most amusing things beside the monkey was the character Glo and her book of spells. Her enthusiasm was amusing as was her attempts at casting spells.
The Bad
After reading One for the Money by Evanovich I was really looking forward to reading another one of her books. Sadly I didn’t care for it and almost didn’t finish it. Most everything was “told” to the reader instead of shown even though it was through dialogue. There was a lot of explanations that could have been left out or shown another way. To sum it up everything felt kind of… flat. I really hate to say that but there didn’t seem to be any spark that made me want to keep reading and there was no suspense despite the paranormal plot. There was quite a bit of sexual content which I didn't care for but to each their own (not for kids though.) I found the characters, while amusing, not very unique and the villain seemed all show. We were just tossed into their lives without much, if any, character development. I probably will not be reading the sequel and there should be a sequel with the cliff hanger at the end.

Moral of the Story
If you care about the interior of your car keep the food away from the monkey in the backseat.
2 Elf Cookies
I finished this one over the weekend, but my review's not scheduled to go up until later this week. I felt similarly to you though. I loved Carl, Cat, and Glo, but I felt there was some severe character development that needed to be done and wasn't.
